A Witness of Paul To
Agrippa
Paul witnesses to Agrippa about the risen Christ—Paul testifies that he knows Agrippa’s heart is ready to accept Christ—Agrippa declares “almost persuadest me to become a Christian”
-
PAUL, a servant of God and of Jesus Christ who has witnessed to many witness to Agrippa.
-
I, Paul say unto thee Agrippa, I know that thou has arrested me, and it is with reason because I am a Christian and thou has perceived that I am a threat to the establishment of Rome.
-
But, unto thee I say, fear not, for God’s kingdom is over all kingdoms and thou shall fear not the things of God.
-
For God does not destroy thee, but destroys the wicked things of the earth; and thus, it is that he sent his Son, Jesus Christ who has come among the world and who has testified of the Father and the Father also testified of the Christ, even unto sending forth a dove upon him and declaring, This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased.
-
Now unto thee Agrippa, a ruler of many, I cry out that if thou shall also believe on the name of the Christ, then you too can know of what I tell thee to be true, for if ye yourself should also receive this testimony in your heart, then you also shall know that Christ is risen.
-
For I testify this day that Christ did rise from the dead, just as he hath said and he did ascend unto his Father and did sit upon the right hand of the Father.
-
And now, if it be not for this, then I should not have become who I am, for I went all throughout the land persecuting and killing the saints of God.
-
I killed them and did not want them to receive of the glory of God; but now I have received also and ye know that I have received or why else should thou be threatened by the witness that I have?
-
In the kingdom of God are many who now stand as witnesses of the things which I also witness unto thee of.
-
For I see thy heart.
-
God has shown unto me the thoughts of which you have thought and I know that you have thought what power comes from this man, but it is not from me, but from God that you feel the saving power.
-
For I have not caused that you should feel this power; rather God, through the Holy Ghost has caused that you should feel the power that you now feel.
-
I say unto thee, that if thou should accept this day, the things which you have heard, then you can also come to the waters of baptism and receive of the wonderful salvation that awaits all.
-
And Agrippa, being moved after hearing these things, did say unto all who were round about, Almost persuadest me to become a Christian and if it were not that you were a prisoner, then perhaps, I would become a Christian; but how can I when you are in chains and bondage?
-
And Paul, unto Agrippa replied, The way is through Christ Jesus who has anointed me a servant unto his working and now I give unto you the testimony last of all, that he lives and that you have felt him.
