The Record of David the Son of Obed

Chapter 1

When I was a young lad and was given to much time in the field with the flocks of my father, I was beset upon by the spirit of almighty God and I did kneel down before my maker and call upon his name as I had seen the priests do at Jer-sheba and then I felt his power come upon my heart.

When I stood up I was given instructions as the priest are given by way of word and by the power of communion.

And I did see into the place of my near future.

And there was three tests of my faith and I was to pass them and confront an enemy to God, for I was given at the time of this vision the knowledge of a bear and a lion and a traveling band of mauraders, for I was shown that the bear would ravish the flocks at the watering hole of Ben’an and that there would be a collection of stones at the bank of the water.

And I could use them to defeat the bear and yet my heart was beating fast and my soul was scared and I did go to the place of the waters with the flock.

And I did go and gather the stones at the edge of the brook Malekeph and the bear came among the sheep at this time.

And I cried out in my heart to God and drew the knife at my side and put a stone in the sling.

And I when I released the bullet, it flew at the bear and he moved and then went for my life, and I plunged the knife into his body and he fell upon me.

And the spirit of the Lord was strong within me and I did say in my heart, O God, give me strength to move the bear, for I was but a young lad and had not strength of myself.

And I did feel the hand of God upon my head and upon my forehead there was a seal of power that pressed out in my spirit.

And I did remove the bear and did carve up the meat and take it home unto my house and my mother was scared for me, but my brothers and father were away and the spirit spake unto my heart saying go into the wilderness and your tasks shall be multiplied.

And I did speak in my heart again saying, who am I Lord that I should have your attention and counsel.

And he spake saying, David my son, I have chosen you to be a leader among my people and you shall gather up your strength and fulfill the tasks at hand.

And I went back unto the place of the brook where the water was kept for the sheep and found a lion some distance off.

And I did kneel down in the spirit and did offer up my soul to God.

And did take from the brook another stone and did arm myself with it, and before I could aim or adjure it towards the lion, the cat sprang at me and chose to take my life in its maw.

My heart was near to fail me, when I found my blade in my hand and the lion no longer moved.

When I removed myself from the lions grasp, I had claw marks in my shoulders and my side.

And he had punctured my head with his teeth, and my hair was filled with blood.

And I did bind myself in the carcass of the lion and did make a fire to tend to my wounds.

As the time passed that night, I did see the spirit of almighty God form up the heavens by way of his command, for he did go unto the servants of his name and choose one from among them and did command that they be formed by his power and for his purpose.

And the servant of his name did speak no word, but was given to begin the command by a motion of his hand.

And I did see that others were gathered near to fulfill the commands of the one and so on and so forth.

And I did see that the spirit of God was indeed more then just spirit, but had a flesh covering and was filled with light.

And I did see the light of his name enter into the one that he commanded and come through him as the command was fulfilled.

And he was most glorious and was filled with the power of God.

And I did see that he was sent down to minister these words saying, David you are of a royal line and are to be the king of this people, but you must first act as a king and tell no one of these things, not even the prophet that I shall send to choose you and anoint you.

And your name shall be had as good and evil among all the nations of the earth.

And no man of power may lay hand upon you to take your life until the appointed time for your departure.

I am the one you have seen and have been called to protect my king and you are to slay the giants of Gath with the power of God and to remove their head as a covenant of perfection, for if you remove the head of the giant of Gath, the brothers shall have no power in their heart to come and slay you and yours.

And I spake saying, I am but a lad and one of no notable worth.

And why has the Lord found favor in me, and the angel spake saying, behold, and my eyes were open and I beheld the sphere upon which we stand was the very earth upon which the God of heaven would set his feet.

And I did seek to know more concerning this thing, but before I could speak, he spake again saying, I know your desires are for greater knowledge and yet your soul is not ready for these things, but will be in the due time of the Lord.

Therefore, prepare yourself this night and set in order the affairs of the sheep of which you govern and maintain their welfare or you shall be lifted from this place and given no honor in this life.

And I spake saying, I will do what the Lord has commanded and fulfill his desire.

In the same manner that he came, he departed.

And as he left I saw the very heavens open up and receive him and the companions who were with him, for before as he came I did not see them, but as he left, I was shown these things and pondered them for some time.
